Wealthy Marathi people are known for their obsession with gold, how they love wearing and displaying the shiny metal. However one wealthy Maharashtrian Datta Phuge from Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune district has taken this obsession for gold a step further by getting himself a gold shirt made from more than 3 kg gold.
Phuge, a chit fund businessman and husband of a NCP corporator is getting lots of attention which he dreamed of while ordering the shirt.
The 22 karat gold shirt is made by 15 goldsmiths who worked 18 hours a day for more than two weeks to assemble the shirt with 14,000 gold flower rings and one lakh spangles on a fabric base of imported white velvet.
Costing about Rs 1.27 crore ($250,000) this custom-made 3.25 kg gold shirt comes with six Swarovski buttons and a gold belt. Phuge is clearly a huge gold lover and also possess 10 gold chains, 6 bracelets and 25 rings all weighing up to 10 kilograms.
