Founded by Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum in 2007, ModVic (Modern Victorian) is a Sharon, Massachusetts based home restoration and steampunk home design company. The organization specializes in creating steampunk designed gadgets and objects by combing the retro beautiful designs of the Victorian era with the latest modern technology. The company has developed an interesting assisted living device as a part of The SteamAble Wheelchair Project. It involves construction of a retro-futuristic Steampunk Wheelchair for a 14 year old boy with Muscular Dystrophy along with creation of some other assisted living devices too.
The process will begin with the modification of two functional wheelchairs into an awesome piece of art. The company believes these customized devices will help their receivers. One of steampunk wheelchairs will go to Kyron, the 14 year old boy with Muscular Dystrophy who is the inspiration behind the project. His unique and awesome ride will help him gain confidence in his interactions by changing the focus of the conversation allowing him to express his individuality through his assisted living device.
The SteamAble Wheelchair Project by ModVic is currently raising money on Indiegogo, an international crowd funding site. The funding campaign is looking to reach the goal of $30,000 USD and will end on February 27, 2014.
