Global Caravan Technologies, a Speedway, Indiana-based company of luxury RVs and travel trailers which was founded back in the summer of 2013 recently unveiled the prototype of world’s first carbon-fiber composite RV. Dubbed CR-1 Carbon, the 35 foot luxurious travel trailer is blended with unique combination of style and craftsmanship. For creating such enormous structure from carbon fiber, the company worked with world’s largest race car builder Dallara and Purdue University. According to Charles Hoefer, CEO of the company, the sales of CR-1 will begin in the first quarter of 2015.
The all carbon fiber CR-1 Carbon weighs just about 6,000 pounds which is almost half than the conventional caravans. The weight reduction adds great strength and the bonded structure offers moisture block and superior product lifespan. The vehicle comes with a sleeping capacity of 6 persons and a seating capacity of 8 persons. The high-end travel trailer comes with a large rear entertainment/lounge area that also doubles as a workstation. All of the interiors walls are made of carbon fiber and sinks and faucets by the Designer Kohler are used throughout for that extra premium luxury. Some of other hi-tech and luxurious features include Smart control iOS/Android/PC software platform, 700W equivalent solar system, Satellite TV and wi-fi router, and integrated generator.
However, the CR-1 Carbon from Global Caravan Technologies won’t be coming cheap as it is expected to cost about $160,000.
