A team of 12 professional Lego builders have built the world’s largest caravan by using 215,158 individual Lego pieces. Unveiled at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK, the fully-functioning life-sized caravan is now officially the new Guinness World Records holder for the largest Lego caravan. Based on a real “teardrop” style caravan, the Lego caravan features Lego versions of all the amenities including a sink with running water, a bed, a seating area, a chess set, toothbrushes, fridge and cooking facilities as well.
The world’s largest Lego caravan is on display at the Motorhome & Caravan Show 2015 and will be available for exhibition alongside a real teardrop caravan from 13-18 October. Measuring 2.2 m tall by 3.6 m long, it took the team of 12 professional Lego builders about 12 weeks and more than 1,000 man hours to construct the Lego travel trailer. The previous record holding Lego caravan was made from 20,000 bricks. The fully-functioning life-sized caravan model built from 215,158 individual Lego pieces smashed that record quite comfortably to register its name in Guinness World Records.
Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday said: “How better to celebrate 130 years of leisure caravanning than with a world record? Record-breaking is particularly fascinating when two worlds collide – in this case, the worlds of caravanning and LEGO building.”
Currently on display at the Motorhome & Caravan Show 2015, the world’s largest Lego caravan will remain for exhibition at NEC for Lego fan event BRICK 2015 from the 29th October until the 1st November.
