Urwerk, Geneva-based award-winning watch brand has unveiled its latest and final version of EMC (Electro Mechanical Control) timepiece. Dubbed Urwerk EMC Pistol, the luxury watch comes with an ornate hand-engraved case and a beautiful handmade leather strap. Allowing wearers to check its rate electronically at the touch of a button, the first EMC mechanical watch was introduced by Urwerk last year. It won the “Watchmaker of the year” award in Hong Kong as well as “exceptional mechanism” and “innovation” prize at the 2014 Geneva Grand Prix d’Horologerie. Now, with the release of Pistol, Urwerk is saying goodbye to EMC.
A limited edition of just 5 pieces, the Urwerk EMC Pistol will come with a unique case which is engraved by Florian Güllert, a renowned firearms engraver. The 43-year-old artist used freehand engraving on metal to come up with various scrolls and letters. Güllert explained, “Engraving is a way of capturing light, it bares the metal and creates zones of shade. The metal is forcibly worked and astonishingly that is what makes it beautiful.”
Besides intricate hand-engraving, the Urwerk EMC Pistol timepiece comes with an exotic leather strap designed by Geneva-based Portalès Leather Company. Joséphine Morf and Sylviane, master designers of the company were behind the beautiful leather strap. Entirely hand-crafted from Nile crocodile leather, the straps are truly three-dimensional with a series of small ridges.
The Urwerk EMC Pistol watch featuring complex hand-engraved case and a beautiful handmade leather strap is limited to just 5 pieces. You can visit the official Urwerk website for pricing and other details.
