Unlike typical tourists with a map, nowadays you can see travelers carrying a smartphone to find out various places to explore and also for searching a comfortable accommodation. Plus, they don’t want to lose internet connectivity at any cost- even within the comfort of their hotel room. However, some hotels charge extra for internet access and if one opts for a hostel that means compromising with their privacy. That’s why CityHub Hotel is introduced in Amsterdam to combine privacy of a hotel and affordability of a hostel.
Aiming to cater today’s internet-connected generation, this unusual hotel includes 50 sleeping units, a digital lobby and an app that familiarizes travelers with the city. Each private sleeping unit called ‘Hub,’ is equipped with a cozy double bed, Wi-Fi, mood lighting and music streaming systems; all facilities are personalized using a smartphone app. Although each pod is separated for privacy, but the bathrooms are still shared with other guests.
Digital lobby ‘hangout,’ is a spacious lounge area where travelers can mingle and chat together. Besides that, with the use of a personal RFID wristband the hotel guests can themselves check in/out and even serve drinks on their own at the bar. The hotel app includes an interactive travel guide that informs you about the city’s upcoming events, places to visit, etc. Moreover, the app also offers a chat room that allows the guests to connect with each other and share their common interests.
Costs to stay in a single pod start at €50 (approx. US $53) per night based on two people sharing it. So, net-savvy nomads are most welcome here here to enjoy benefits of internet facilities, while keeping up with their communal alliance.
While digital world is somehow reducing face-to-face interaction among people, the CityHub hotel is constructed to maintain the balanced between modern technology and point-black communication. Check out the video and images given below to have closer look at the ‘hotel of the future.’
