Samsung is known for introducing strangely practical electronics, be it the Swarovski crystals-studded Galaxy Note 3 or futuristic ring speakers. Now, the Korean tech giant is all set to launch its another mind-blowing product in the form of a refrigerator that is outfitted with a huge touch screen display. Entitled as the Family Hub refrigerator, the all-new appliance is all decked up with high-tech features such as 21.5-inch 1080p display on its door, speakers for listening to music and cameras equipped inside to watch food expire in real-time.
Continuing the Internet of Things (IoT) trend that promises to add online connectivity into household appliances, this smart fridge appears to be an odd fridge/smartphone hybrid with its massive Android-esque touchscreen display on front door. This huge display is connected to the built-in cameras, allowing you to remotely browse your fridge and know what items are present inside and which one are about to expire soon. All thanks to the companion mobile app you’ll be able to see list of items in the fridge even while shopping.
Users can also leave each other notes, look up recipes, surf the web, watch videos, read messages and also monitor food intake of all family members. The built-in speakers help you to clearly hear the online recipe tutorials. Plus, it includes Android-style buttons and apps for streaming music, as well as managing calendars and weather displays.
Sadly, Samsung has not revealed anything about its availability and pricing yet, but there’s no doubt it’ll be launching very soon in Korea. You can catch up more information and details about the family hub fridge at CES 2016, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9.
