Toronto-based artist Jacqueline Poirier is popularly known as ‘The Crazy Plate Lady’ on internet. This is because she usually uses dinner plates as a canvas for blurring the lines between dream and reality. Hence, she aptly calls her artwork as ‘Plart.’ Taking dinnerware to whole new level, this time Poirier has created another set of whimsical paintings on ceramic and porcelain plates, which seem to blend effortlessly into their surrounding landscapes.
Poirier works as resident artist of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto, and has become quite popular with her highly impressive artwork. You can clearly see how brilliantly she blends the design scenes on plates with the real landscapes before her. This ultimately results in extraordinary photographs that appear as if the artist has literally stolen a piece of the surroundings on a circular object.
Bringing joy through her mind-blowing art to clients all over the world, Poirier has painted more than 1,500 hotel plates over the course of her career. She creates ultra-realistic paintings of food and other objects. While plates are obviously an unusual canvas choice, the artist loves painting on dinner plates- as it allows her art to be creative and functional at the same time.
These painted plates indeed make great conversation pieces around the table. Check out the images given below to have closer look at her inspiring artwork. You can also follow her official website or Instagram account to see complete collection of her ultra-realistic plate art.
