Hackney Botanical build coffee tables that double as indoor garden

Hackney Botanical is a London-based company that design and build Plantscapes. With their bespoke planting, the firm is dedicated to bring life to offices, homes and retail spaces. The most interesting product in their collection is the coffee tables that double as indoor garden as well. The base of these terrarium tables are hand made from reclaimed wood. Besides that, recycled antique sash window frames have been used as table tops. The glass sits on metal poles whereas hairpin legs support the main frame of the coffee table.

Hackney Botanical offers a range of tables with many different varieties of plants. For example, The Grove terrarium coffee table is planted up with a range of verdant leafy plants. These include species like tradescantia and pilea (Chinese money plant). The lid of this coffee table is made from a restored antique sash window frame. It is priced at £625($800).

The second table from the collection is The Mesa Terrarium Table. It features a variety of succulent plants, driftwood and a sandy soil. The coffee table comes with a minimalist floating glass top that sits on distinct rubber pegs. Thus, it allows you to see the flora to be seen from every angle. This coffee table will set you back around £575($735).

Lastly, the collection has The Dune terrarium coffee table. It holds a range of succulent plants nestled between driftwood, sand and coral. This one will cost you £680(around $870).

According to Rose Worrell, founder of Hackney Botanical, “The more you can manipulate a dead indoor space into recreating the natural world, the happier you will be inhabiting it. This idea led to us to literally planting into furniture, while retaining the practicality of the everyday coffee table.”
