The year 2020 celebrates the 25th anniversary of American fantasy adventure film Jumanji. If like us, you are also a fan of Robin Williams’ masterpiece, this might interest you. Berlin-based Funky Aliens Art has created exact replica of the famous Jumanji Board Game from the movie. Being huge fans of the movie, members at Funky Aliens Art were pretty excited to create this Board game replica for its 25th anniversary.
This fan made collectors replica of the game is created from one piece of wood and is currently funding on Kickstarter. The project reached its funding goal in less than an hour. Well, there is no surprise to see that considering the popularity of the movie. The team behind this prop from Jumanji consists of graphic designers, woodworkers, 3D printing specialists and artists.

The adventurous journey of the Jumanji board game replica starts with a special type of unique hard wood. The knot-free meticulously selected hard wood is dried up for at least two months. The box is made from three pieces of wood which are connected with hinges. For precise finishing, other parts are made using a dremel tool. It is hand-painted then where firstly few layers of stain are applied. Furthermore, it is varnished to offer crucial resistance to the wood. Lastly, the front section with the logo and section for pawns to move on is painted painstakingly.
The impressive pawns are printed on a DLP 3D printer and come with small neodymium magnet to keep them stable on the board. The dice made out of wood is also the exact replica of the original one, seen in the movie. A 7-inch TFT display and a raspberry Pi board are placed under the game board for installing animations to appear on the screen. Interestingly, when the board is taken in hand, the two built-in speakers start playing the drum beats just like there was in the movie.
The 25th anniversary edition Jumanji board game from Funky Aliens Art is definitely a collector’s item for the fans of the movie. You can back the project on Kickstarter right now and book one for yourself. However, the limited edition Jumanji Board game replica comes with a hefty price tag of €269.
