Imagine watching a fiery sunset sitting in a houseboat surrounded by palm trees. It definitely sounds like a dream vacation. What if we tell you that you can enjoy this vacation on a 100-foot-long Kerala Houseboat?
Recently, Lyndon Alves from a vacation rental company called Sunset Getaway had commissioned FADD Studio to create a beautiful thatched roof and wood hull houseboat for providing travelers a private experience.
Located on the Chapora River in North Goa, (near Morjim), the Kerala Houseboat has been constructed from bamboo and wood throughout the 1,600-square-foot space. The traditional Kettuvallam is used in the Kerala region to promote tourism. Keeping the same design in mind, the studio created a similar houseboat for this beautiful location in Goa, India.
The interior walls of the houseboat are not painted and don’t even include any wallpaper or adhesive to avoid the use of any toxic chemicals. However, the walls do provide enough protection from any type of weather conditions.

What’s more interesting is that the three bedrooms in the houseboat are designed to represent different elements of nature. These bedrooms are named as – water room, fire room, and earth room. The water room boasts shades of green, blue, and yellow for an amazing ripple effect. Plus, the wall art focuses on the water theme.
In the fire room, there are tones of reds and oranges that are all around the space with rich and striped bedspread and two-tone curtains to soften the fiery ambiance. Finally, the earth room has a neutral theme with small green flowers and other things that reminds you of Earth’s living elements.
The dining area is all about the element of air. It is designed to match the breezy vibes of the surroundings. And, the gray and lavender shades in this area evokes the calmness of gentle winds.
All three bedrooms have separate sunset decks for guests to enjoy massage sessions while immersing themselves in nature. It certainly sounds like a dream come true, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic when we are stuck in our homes for months.
