Montblanc and Pirelli teams for limited edition pen
Montblanc, Germany-based luxury Goods Company and Italian tire company Pirelli has once again joined hands to create a new product. Well, this time it’s not a luggage collection but a writing instrument collection that reflects the legacy of these two iconic brands. The writing instrument collection is called Meisterstück Great Masters Pirelli Limited Edition 1872.

The luxury writing instrument collection is crafted from rubber, which has been used by both these brands since the very beginning. Since its birth, Pirelli has created wide range of products from rubber. On the other hand, Montblanc also used ebonite obtained from vulcanized natural rubber for its first writing instruments. The color combination used for the Meisterstück Great Masters Pirelli Limited Edition 1872 is rubber black and contrast red which portrays the vintage look of both the brands.

The limited edition Meisterstück comes with a black rubber crafted cap and barrel. Besides that, it features highlighted red rings on the cap and the tip along with a Montblanc emblem in precious mother-of-pearl. The pattern of the luxury writing instrument is inspired from the original Pirelli logo created in 1966. The renowned “P” from 1908 is engraved on an 18K gold nib above a stylized running tire with the Montblanc emblem in the center.

Each nib is crafted from solid 18K gold which requires special skills and a series of complex tasks. The tasks involve soldering an iridium ball to the nib tip and ensure perfect ink flow as well. The limited edition pen is available in two variants: a fountain pen model that costs $2,910 and a Rollerball version that will set you back around $2,790.
